Love's in the air!

HI EVERYONE!!! It's Gazel and Harmoni here! I know it's been such a long time since we ever published something but we are here now!!!! I know missed us.....I just know.........

Today is a stressful day for us because the day after tomorrow is mothers day and we NEED to finish our cards. So right now we are making our cards and we need to finish them today! Also our parents are coming in at 9:45am so we can show them around the school. Just to tell you mothers day is on Sunday in Australia if you were confused and your in a different country.

Mother's Day is a day to let loose,
It's a day of impatience in the car,
It's a day to love your mother,
It's a day of relaxation,
It's a day to smile,
It's a day that your dad's stress.

That was a poem that our whole class made by accident.....so we can't take the credit for it.
Here is Harmonii's poem:

Dearest mum,
you've always been there for me,
making me dinner and eating it with me,
From crawling to walking,
Buying things for me,
Helping me up when i have have my worst falls.

You drive me everywhere,
Fun things after fun things,
cooking lovely meals day after day,
night after night,
Thank you is the only word i can say.

I'll love you forever,
Never forget you,
I love you, I love you, I love you,
Even more and better than my bedroom,
even more than my CDs and CD player,
even more than my shower,
Yes even more than my ipod!

This is Gazel's peom:

Dearest Mum,

You're my heart and soul,
My key to happiness,
My love and joy,
Your always there,
For me to hug,
To kiss,
To love,
You're my angel from above.

We always do everything I love,
Cooking stir fry on the stove,
Taking me to the library,
Watching T.V with me,
Teaching me new things everyday,
Even if it takes all day,
You're the daisy in my hair,
You're the smile on my face,
You're my idol to follow.

Since you've heard our poems already, let me (Gazel) describe what mother's day feels like, sounds like, and tastes like:

The birds sing during mother's day, it's a day of relaxation, and it's a day to thank our mothers.

That's all for now, Gazel and Harmoni out!!!

What are you doing for your mother???

Are you stressed out??? ............. =)

Anzac day

Anzac day is a day for remembering the soilders that fought in the war and also fought for our rights and country. Anzac is not just for remembering Australian soldiers it is also a remembering of New Zealand soldiers who helped us during the wars. It is polite to wear a special flower known as the poppy to show commitment to our soldiers.

A Australian
N New
Z Zealand
A Army
C Corp

Here is a story about a boy called William who joined the army at 16, leaving his mother and grandfather at a farm. William joined the army becuase he wanted to show respect to his family and save his country. He travelled to Egypt to complete complex training in the heat. Some people passed away during the heated conditions. The rest of the soldiers travelled to Europe to fight with his fellow teamates. On the way he wrote letters to his family to inform them that he was still alive. After four years of hard fought war, the guns went silent and the war ended. The final letter that William wrote was to his grandfather about how hard the war was and how proud he was of himself.

We must respect the soliders that fought for our country so on Anzac day we must pay our respect by having a minute of silence.

Awsome word wall!!!

Hey I've got a question? Do you have a word wall? If you don't how do you get your fantastic words  from  your class room we have the most interesting word wall. The reason why you should have a word wall: it is to make your writing more spectacular to read. Don't you agree with me?

Plus some of the words on it go in your brain and gives you a idea what to right about. The more useful words that pop in your brain the better your writing gets. The most horrible words that will not fit on the word wall is good, big, happy, bad, sad and play.

Why wouldn't you have a word wall. If you do a word wall you will see how much awesome and remarkable your writing will be and from that one word that is on your head the easier it will get for you to write. Also it can help you by read because some words that are on the word wall are in some of the books you read.

This might sound funny but it can help you when you are some where where lot of use words on the top of the roof on titles of chapter book or even picture books. So the more words you find the more easier it is for you to write. These are the top 7 best words: awesome, remarkable, outstanding, energetic, outrageous, psychedelic and fabulous.

Our awesome amazing school

Hey you! Yeah you! Do you know how our school looks like? Well today we will be talking about how our school looks like!!

Well our school has three main buildings which is the 3-6 building, the prep building and the 1/2 building. In the 3-6 building there are twelve classrooms, an office area, a staffroom, an I.C.T room and lastly our libary. In the prep building there are six classrooms and in the 1/2 building there are fourteen rooms and two kitchens.

We also have a science room, two toilet blocks (one for the preps, the ones and the twos and the other for the 3-6s), an oval, an ashphelt (or some schools call it a quadrangle) and a pergola. If you didn't know an oval is like a giant backyard, it has plenty of space so you can play footy and cricket and theres still plenty of space! It has a playground or two a fitness trrack and a sandpit.

Oh wait we all most forgot! We have a canteen, music room and a phiscal educaton room. Our canteen has loads of food in it! Most people go to the canteen when it is a 30 degree (celsius that is!) day. They have all types of food like noodles, icy poles, chips, hotdogs, pies and jjs. Our music room has loads of musical instuments like rhythm sticks, drums, ukelaele and many more! Our phys ed room can fit in all of our school!! It also holds all of our sporting equipment in it.

If you were going to our school what would your favourite area be?

See ya soon!!

Green Girls

Hello, in our school we have green girls.

If you don't know  what green girls are well they are kind of like a JSC but they  do more than the JSC do in our opinion. There are a whole bunch of things green girls do like they take a whole bunch of meetings. They take it seriously, they clean up the school then there can be a clean spot or even better a whole school. They help others, they also ask people to help clean upthe school when they need help and so are school can  be healthy. The green girls got their badges on Friday so people know who the green girls are ol.The green girls are in each grade in the grade 5/6 area, which is awesome. We got 2 green girls in our amazing class WOW. The leader of the green girls is Mr Cox, he is amazing. The green girls badges are green with white writing with  a tree with leaves on it.

These are some of the dot points we came up with why we love are green girls :
  • green girls save enviroment
  • green girls help others
  • green girls recycle
  • they are nice to everyone
  • they are cooperative
Everybody knows that green girls save the school from getting poluted by all the rubbish. Do you want to here a seceret? Well here it goes anyway, one day I went to this place and my friends and me  went to this school and it was the dirteist school we had  ever seen in our lives it was so messy my friends and I said it was the worst school some of us said that it was so horrid that a cow looked better then that school, but then I said, " Do they have a green girls"? and one of my friend said, "No they do not have any green girls in their school.'' I said, "Let's go in and get them a clean school," and they said, ''How are we going to do that?" Then I said, ''Lets get them green girls.'' Then a few years later the school was clean by the green girls cleaning up the place. See this is how green girls save the enviroment.

Green girls help others by telling people to clean up the school because we don't want our school to be dirty. If you want green girls to help you with cleaning up the school you should ask them to help you or they should ask you if you need help. I will tell you something here it goes, once there was no green girls at our school and then we got green girls in our school. We have a "bin it" once a month, during which the green girls hand out stickers and if you do a great job of cleaning you get a trash pack from the green girls. You only get them if you pick up two bags or more of rubbish. The green girls help the plants by telling students to get out of the garden. They help the school by emptying out the compost bin, the paper bin and the rubbish bin. Also they take ideas from the students and bring them to the meetings and try to make them come true.

Do you like green girls? Do you have green girls in your school?

If you do who are they? If you do how many do you have?

Playgrounds here are phenomenal!!

Hey guys. We got another new post today by the world's most famous kids ever... KIRRA and DOMINIQUE! Did we tell you what our blog is about yet, you tell them Dominique, "It is about the school's PLAYGROUNDS!" Our impressive school playground is separated into different sections. The 3-6 playground is at the back of the oval, the 1/2 playground is before the asphalt and last but not least the prep playground is also at the back of the oval. Read on if you want to hear more.

The prep playground:

The prep playground is the littlest but it is the preps remarkable dream playground. They can do anything and it's close to the 3-6 area so the grade 5/6s can take care of their prep buddies! Imagine you're running around playing tiggy and you are racing down the slide with your friends, climb the rock climbing wall like a monkey, also you can pretend that your on a pirate ship and sailing across the peaceful sea. WOW! Doesn't that seem exotic, their miniature preps can imagine anything they want!

1/2 playground:

Everyone knows that when you get a year older, you move up to grade 1/2 and the playground gets better and better! This playground has more things like..
  • Slide (of course)
  • Monkey bars
  • Wobbly bridges
  • Pirate wheels everywhere
  • Swirly ladders
  • and much more
The 1/2 area is always packed because everyone loves it. What? What, else can you do there? Well I'm glade you asked, you can play playground tiggy. Here are some steps to tell you how to play...
  1. Get a group of people and do dip dip.
  2. However it gives you a 30 second head start
  3. When the person is chasing you, you CAN'T touch the ground!
  4. Well, here is a bonus tip... have an incredible time.
Isn't this phenomenal? Now keep on reading because the next paragraph is about 3-6 playground!

3-6 Playground:

Like you'd guess we have the gigantic, spectacular playground you would ever imagine! Where do I start, we have thousands of the most outstanding play equipment EVER! Here is a list of play equipment we have...
  • A bumpy slide
  • Three remarkable monkeybars
  • Climbing chains
  • Poles
  • Wavey bridges
  • and loads more!
There are loads of places you can play on a phenomenal playground like this like playground tiggy, regular tiggy, or if you don't like those games you can just sit back and relax.

Well this is it from Kirra and Dominique so have fun reading the other blogs so bye.

HOW MANY PLAYGROUNDS DO YOU HAVE?

WOW!!! Exotic Stick Buddies!!!

Hi!!

This is Gazel and Harmonii speaking! I hope you guys missed us! Did you know that we just got stick buddies yesterday? They are spectacular!!

When I took them home one of them turned green and my mum got freaked out! I thought it was soo weird. Do you want to know a interesting fact about stick buddies? Surely you do and that's what we assumed. When they sleep they turn they're head all the way around and here's something grotesque: when they eat little wriggly worm things come out of they're mouthes and grab eucalyptus leaves and eat them.

They also do wobbly dances that are hilarous! You should see them when you pick them up. They just won't come off your hands. One of them does impressive wobbly dances all the time and one just disgracefully lazes about under a leaf. They can camouflage in their enviroment to avoid danger. That's why one of them turned green! When they are upside down it means they are very comfortable.

When you take them home you have to spray their eucalyptus leaves with water because they drink water using the leaves otherwise they'll become dehydrated. You also have to change their leaves about every week otherwise the leaves become old and wrinkly. The way we keep the moisture in the leaves is we have a tub of water in the tank. =)

That's all for now,
Gazel and Harmoni out!

What do you think we should name our stick buddies?

What do you think we should write about next?

Comment down below but remember it has to be about school! ^_^

             Creepy and frightening sharks!!!

Our class 5/6K have picked a topic on sharks for inquiry. We picked sharks because they're awesome to study.

Types of sharks, our class has studied?
  • mako shark
  • prehistoric shark
  • great white-shark
  • dinosaur shark found in japan
  • barsking shark
  • hammer head shark
  • reef shark
  • megaldon shark
  • gummi shark
  • whale shark
Therefore that's all the sharks we used in our inquiry topic. Heaps of students in 5/6K have studied the megladon shark, only four or five students have done the inquiry topic on different kinds of sharks.

We will tell you a little about some sharks!!!

Weird things have been found in a shark such as, a treasure chest, a nail, a torpedo, a wine bottle coats, a suit of armor and a drum!

  • The megaldon is the biggest prehistoric shark that ever lived.
  • The megaldon tooth? is 7 inches long!
  • The great white shark is know as the biggest shark in the ocean
  • The great white shark has 2426 teeth
  • Some sharks can sence long distance
  • Some sharks like to goin deep water
We had so much fun in inquiry and we hope you liked it. Thank you for reading from Chiara and Arshdeep.

What do you think about our shark topic?

Interschool sports :)

On Friday the 1st of March Melton West Primary School participated in interschool sport. The sports were bat tennis, cricket and volleyball. We drove to Coburn Primary to play interschool sport. We left straight after snack to go to Coburn. Everyone played amazingly and showed great sportsmanship to our opponents.

The score for cricket was melton 62/4 Coburn 41/8 the cricket were very thrilled with their win, their first game and were celebrating on the bus. On the other hand coburn primary did a exceptional job and showed a lot of sportsmanship. WELL DONE Coburn and Melton West Primary School.

Melton west Primary school also went down to Coburn to play volleyball . volleyball was 20-20 the boys and girls did extraordinary job and the nolleyball was 20-12. Melton west won but Coburn did an excellent job and a lot of sportsmanship.

Bat tennis was also a draw but both teams showed excellent play and fantastic sportsmanship. Both teams couldn't believe that it was a draw and Melton West were saying how they could improve next time and win against Coburn if we play them again.

Overall Melton West was extremely excited with their performance. So were the teachers. WELL DONE MELTON! Who do you want to win the lightning premiership in all interschool sports?

5/6K's Persuasive Week

On the 5th of March 5/6K started their free choice persuasive texts. We have chosen this because we really enjoy experimenting with these type of texts. We all enjoy exploring persuasive and hope that you will enjoy our persuasive texts, we will be blogging about the finished persuasive texts next post and they will be awesome.

Some people have produced some fantastic writing. I love doing persuasive texts and also they are very interesting to write about because you are trying to convince someone to think about something in a different manner in which they first thought.

Persuasive texts are one of my favourite texts to do because, you get to speak your mind and sometimes its good to speak your mind. For example, if you are trying to persuade that footy is better than cricket (which it is) then you need to know how to write a persuasive text and use it well.

Someone like me, I could persuade you that footy is better than soccer like that. Its easier to write about something that your passionate about than something that you know nothing about like I would write about Minecraft (Kobe) than write about something I don't know anything about like soccer.

Do you like writing persuasive texts?

If you had to choose between persuasive texts and procedural texts what would it be?

Sincerly Kobe and Brayden

Wow science!

Today we went to science and we learnt a little bit about the blue tongue lizards and we also learnt about microscopic organisms and it was really exciting.

Here is a picture of the blue tongue lizard to show you an example:

We also learnt about the first person who made the micros and his name Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, it was fantastic.

The blue tongue lizard looked exciting and one of the blue tongue lizards had only two feet. We saw axolotls, tarsals, gold fish and stick insects.

The science teacher ordered some chickens and they are going to hatch in a couple of weeks and we learnt a bit more about micros organisms and it was outstanding!

Then the science teacher got some more blue tongue lizards but they are three moths old and the three moths old lizard were so cute, very very very cute.

This week a lady came in the science room and taught us a bit more about micros organisms. We had to get this plate and get this warm cotton buds thing and we had to go to this place that the teacher told us to go to (it wasn't outside the school it was inside the school) and it was amazing.

The science teacher has a lot of animals in the science room. She had more animals in the science room but there are too many to even explain.

Writers notebook!!!!!!!!!!

Hello this is JP and Tyson on the line... What would you like us to talk about? Writer's note book ok we will. A writer's notebook is a book where you write ideas you also can write where you have been your favorite movies, shows and all the fun places you have been to.

This is a picture of Tyson's writers notebook.

As you can see Tyson's writers notebook is psyshadeliec and also a little crazy at the same time.

We also meet Mr Stick he is mean and some times he is nice. When Mr Stick meet JP's book he said all I talk about is WWE but he dosen't know how outrageous WWE is. When he goes to Tyson's book he says his book is better then JP's book, he's also met other people's writers notebooks in our class.

The reason we use writers notebook is because for writing to collect ideas. What is in your writer's notebook that's interesting?

You can write any thing you want like WWE, mindcraft, disgusting moives or your favorite show. This is what Tyson did in his unforgettable writer's notebook. What is the most best thing in your writer's notebook?

OUR AWESOME WORD WALL!!!!

Hello!

Did you know that we have just finished making our word wall? It is fabulous! Beleive it!
If you didn't know what on eartha word wall was, you're lucky! We were just about to explain to you what a word wall is!

A word wall is a wall full of words to replace boring words like; and, so, good, scary, bad, sad, happy and many more words we can't remember.....
Here are some of the words to replace good:
If you can't see this use a magnifying glass!
  • outstanding
  • cheerful
  • terrific
  • exotic
  • remarkabe
  • peaceful
  • spectacular
  • phenomenal
  • impressive
  • energetic
  • and many more!
Here are some examples for sad/bad:
  • half-hearted
  • hot-tempered
  • sorrowful
  • depressed
  • disgraceful
  • miserable
  • greive
  • and many more!!!
We have a collasal girl (that looks like a clown) that's supposed to replace words for doing and do. We also have a red, microscopic heart with one side that replaces good, happy and on the other side it has got bad and sad. We've got a halloween, middle-sized pumpkin head (that people confused as the head) that replaces words, such as spooky and scared. We've also got a speech bubble (that's the same size as the pumpkin head) that replaces words like said which is very boring. For example: he said this, I said that, everyone said something....well you get the point.....

What do you think?
Do you think we're crazy?
WE WANT TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!

The Best 5/6 Class

On the first day of school, we made new friends even though we are not all the same we are a coumunity and we are a class; we stick together no matter what happens. We have lots of different books like Goosebumps, sport, information texts and transport. 5/6K loves to read everyday.

Our classroom uses active participation, teamwork, resilence, responsiblity and last but not least mutal respect. We have enjoyed spectacular activities in our classroom. We engaged in reading, writting, numeracy and we also did crazy faces.

We are also getting a classroom pet but we don't know what its going to be. We have a not okay to be away prize box. We have a library that has lots of different types of books. We have a wonderful teacher, she is sweet, kind, funny and the best. We have lots of people in our class. We are doing a beach theme in our class so we like to do some beach things. We have a thing called 'Operation smart'. We would like to show the photos we have, they are the things we have in the library and in the class room.

5/6 Sport Extravaganza

On the 1/2/13 5/6K started their first 5/6 sport session, most of the 5/6 students played dodgeball about 1/4 played pony express (explanation below) and 1/4 were skipping. The dodgeball teams were grade 6 vs grade 5 and the grade 6's one had 20 people out of the 35 players. The Pony Express scores were 3 runs to 4 runs but the main reason we played is for enjoyment and everyone had a great time on their first 5/6 sport session of the year and we hope to have more of this enjoyment all year round.

We also play other sports that include:
  • Netball
  • Soccer
  • Free play (do anything)
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Table Tennis
  • Kickball
  • T-ball

Pony Express explanation:
Pony Express is a game of skill and endurance and you need to run from one end of the court to the other and back to score a run while the other team is pelting balls at you. You have to dodge all the balls and try not to get pelted by the balls.

Equipment:                                                                                   Each class gets their own sport tub
You need at least 4 players                                                         and this is ours. We use this all the
At least 3 balls                                                                               time and everyone respects this
You will need a bat of any kind                                                    equipment.
You need to have at least 10 cones (5 on each side)

We also have P.E which is like 5/6 sport but the only difference is that it's only your class and you learn more about how to do and discuss sports.

Sincerely,
Kobe and Brayden ^_^

Crazy Faces

Do you like code faces? Do you know what code faces are? If you love drawings, you'll absolutely adore code faces. If you're wondering why 5/6K have completed code faces, it's because we wanted to get to know each and everyone in the class and make new friends.

A code face is pretty much a picture that describes your life, personality, attributes and abilities. In order to make a code face, you need to collect:
  • an A4 piece of white paper
  • the secret code; for example diagonal eyebrows means you love science as your favourite specialist class
  • coloured pencils or pens
  • a greylead
  • an eraser
  • a ruler
  • a gluestick
  • an A3 piece of coloured paper

These are some of our phenomenal code faces!  They are colourful, unique, impressive, hilarious and awesome! We were excited to make them.

This post was brought to you by 5/6K.

Do you like our coded faces?

Are you interested in making a coded face yourself?
